Associate Scientist, R&D - Product Development

About the role

Kraft Heinz is hiring for multiple product development positions within its North America R&D teams. Candidates will implement and drive technical projects for several top brands such as Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Lunchables and OM Bites. The role suits someone with a technical background who can apply scientific principles to new situations, manage several assignments at once and work with minimal guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct bench-top experiments in the lab
• Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, shelf-life and compliance with government and industry standards
• Lead pilot plant and product-scale-up of formulas
• Create product formulations, run shelf-life studies and document product specifications
• Develop and commercialize new products, improve existing ones, review ingredients and deliver cost savings
• Work with Packaging, Quality, Operations, Project Management, Marketing and Sales to scope and implement projects
• Support feasibility assessments, prototype development, costing, recipe and factory documentation, technical approvals and initial factory production

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Food, Dairy, Meat Science, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field
• Previous dairy experience preferred
• Experience in the food or consumer products industry preferred
• Internship or co-op experience preferred
• Willingness to travel up to 30%
