Associate Quality Assurance

About the role

Amgen is hiring an Associate Quality Assurance for its Thousand Oaks, CA site. The role is fully onsite and involves sampling and inspection of raw materials and components, mainly chemicals, and may require extended time in the sampling suite (clean room). Physical demands include lifting more than 30 pounds and maneuvering loads of more than 50 pounds, and passing a vision assessment for inspection work. Previous GMP experience is a plus but not mandatory, as training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Sample and inspect raw materials and components
• Review documentation for assigned functions, such as equipment and maintenance records
• Lead small projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Operate and maintain sampling instruments and equipment such as a Toledo balance, drum lift and pallet jack
• Maintain training records and record and compute data
• Apply general knowledge of aseptic techniques, cGMPs, gowning, sampling procedures and safety guidelines

Required profile

• High school/GED plus 2 years of quality experience, or an associate's degree plus 6 months of quality experience, or a bachelor's degree
• Ability to lift more than 30 pounds and maneuver loads of more than 50 pounds, and pass a vision assessment
• Comfortable working with raw materials and components, mainly chemicals, and able to work in a clean room for extended periods
• Team player who can work independently, multi-task and solve problems

Required skills

• Proficiency with documentation systems, databases and spreadsheets
• Attention to detail and effective time management
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Preferred: prior GMP experience, familiarity with production/warehouse equipment, and familiarity with inspection equipment and lab/sampling

• Salary range of $68,289.85 to $92,392.15 depending on skills, experience and qualifications
