About the role
The Executive Office of the Secretary‑General (EOSG) is seeking an Associate Programme Officer to support the Rule of Law Unit. Reporting to the Chief of the Unit through the Deputy Chief, the incumbent will contribute to the implementation of the Secretary‑General’s vision on rule of law and human rights.
Key responsibilities
- Provide information, analysis and policy advice on thematic areas such as international courts, transitional justice, anti‑corruption, civic space, disinformation, counter‑terrorism and more.
- Conduct quality control of documents including background notes, reports, speeches and other communications of senior leadership.
- Support preparation for senior management meetings, executive and deputies committees on country and thematic files.
- Assist in policy development, research, evaluations and the preparation of written outputs such as meeting notes, remarks and background papers.
- Provide substantive support to high‑level consultative meetings, conferences and records management, including declassification of confidential records.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to the rule of law and human rights.
- Ability to produce high‑quality analytical and policy documents for senior UN leadership.
- Experience in supporting multi‑stakeholder meetings and managing sensitive information.
