Associate Professor – Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (Genitourinary)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks an Associate Professor to provide clinical pathology and laboratory medicine services focused on the genitourinary tract. This full‑time faculty position involves patient care, teaching, research, and quality assurance across multiple hospitals and cancer centers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform gross description, tissue sampling, and microscopic examination of surgical specimens.
• Order and interpret ancillary tests, report findings, and verify coding diagnoses.
• Provide frozen‑section diagnoses and autopsy services as needed.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and site‑specific disease group meetings.
• Teach pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Engage in collaborative basic, clinical, or applied research and pursue grant funding.
• Contribute to daily quality‑assurance activities and departmental committees.
• Maintain compliance with JCAHO, CAP, CLIA accreditation standards and HIPAA regulations.

Required profile

• MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology.
• Florida medical license.
• Strong knowledge of general surgical pathology and genitourinary subspecialty, including intra‑operative evaluations.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience with quality‑improvement methodologies and team‑based processes.
• Familiarity with JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA regulations.
