Associate, Global AI Policy

About the role

Tencent is looking for a motivated Associate to support its Global AI Policy efforts within the Global Public Affairs team in Palo Alto. This early‑career position sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, public policy, and international affairs, providing exposure to cutting‑edge AI technologies and regulatory landscapes worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze AI‑related policy developments, including machine learning, generative AI, agentic AI, and semiconductor trends.
• Track legislative and regulatory activity in the United States and key international markets.
• Prepare concise policy briefings, research memoranda, presentations, and executive summaries for internal stakeholders.
• Identify emerging risks and opportunities for Tencent’s AI and cloud businesses.
• Collaborate with public affairs, legal, compliance, product, engineering, and research teams to develop policy positions and consultation responses.
• Engage external stakeholders such as policymakers, think tanks, industry associations, academic institutions, and civil society organizations.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional with strong interest in AI policy and public affairs.
• Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and build relationships with internal and external partners.
• Based in Palo Alto and able to contribute to global AI policy analysis.
