Associate Director of Education & Community Engagement

About the role

The Associate Director of Education & Community Engagement supports Central City Opera’s outreach by managing school and community programs, workshops, master classes, and virtual initiatives. This full‑time position blends program development, logistical coordination, and performance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Education in planning and managing all educational and community engagement activities.
• Oversee on‑site program delivery, coordinate with teachers, presenters, and lead contract workers, hourly staff, and volunteers.
• Produce monthly service and budget reports, track attendance and demographics, and manage post‑event surveys.
• Manage a roster of touring and teaching artists, schedule their availability, and ensure compliance with qualifications and clearances.
• Lead and perform as a teaching/touring artist, including vocal performances.
• Develop resource guides, virtual programs, and collaborate on marketing and curricular content.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in music, education, performing arts, arts administration, or related field.
• Strong project‑management abilities and capacity to handle multiple deadlines.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to pass a CBI/FBI background check.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and travel across the Denver metro area.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related office applications.
• Experience with vocal performance and teaching in educational settings.
