Associate Director, Data Modeling Lead

About the role

Novartis is looking for an Associate Director, Data Modeling Lead to design and govern enterprise data assets that support analytics, reporting and AI-ready datasets. The role partners with business and technology leaders to build scalable, reusable data models. It is based at the East Hanover, New Jersey site, with remote work possibly available subject to restrictions; relocation is not offered.

Key responsibilities

• Design and govern conceptual, logical and physical enterprise data models.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, implementation-ready data structures.
• Model critical domains such as customer, product, payer and territory data.
• Partner with business and technical teams to define entities, relationships and business rules.
• Establish and maintain data modeling standards and design patterns, and review models against Common Data Model standards.
• Ensure models are represented correctly in metadata and lineage platforms and support certified data products with governed, AI-ready structures.
• Resolve data model gaps, duplication and cross-domain inconsistencies.
• Provide modeling expertise, documentation and design guidance to stakeholders and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Business or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, data engineering or enterprise data management.
• Experience building conceptual, logical and physical models for enterprise platforms, data products, master data or CDM programs.
• Experience translating requirements into implementable data structures with business and technical teams.
• Experience with data product, data warehouse, lakehouse or analytics platform environments.

Desirable: advanced degree or certification in data architecture, data modeling, cloud or data management. Salary range $152,600-$283,400 per year, with a performance-based cash incentive and possible equity awards; US-based eligible employees also receive health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a time-off package.
