Associate Director, Athletics Communications

About the role

The Associate Director, Athletics Communications serves as the primary communications voice for the Miami Hurricanes Olympic sports program. This role blends writing, media relations, digital content creation, and compliance oversight to promote the university’s athletic achievements.

Key responsibilities

• Write game recaps, press releases, and award nominations for Olympic sports.
• Act as media liaison for local and national outlets, managing credentials and press‑box operations.
• Maintain statistics, records, and archives; oversee press operations at home games.
• Edit publications, update the official athletics website, and create content for social‑media distribution.
• Manage social‑media channels and ensure compliance with NCAA, ACC, and university policies.
• Establish internal controls, train staff on procedures, and support the Associate Athletic Director for Communications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2‑3 years of experience in athletics, public relations, digital media, or a related area.
• Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as needed.
• Strong independent work ethic, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication skills, including AP‑style proficiency.
