Associate Data Center Engineer

About the role

LinkedIn is seeking an Associate Data Center Engineer to join its Richardson, TX facility. The role is on‑site full‑time and may involve evening or overnight shifts to support global operations. You will work directly on hardware reliability and performance across LinkedIn’s data‑center fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Perform break‑fix repairs on servers and network equipment, including drives, DIMMs, fans, power supplies, SSDs and NVMe devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated hardware issues from contracted technicians, using diagnostics and escalating when necessary.
• Install new SSDs and NVMe drives in existing servers and conduct basic Linux OS and IPMI‑level troubleshooting.
• Assist LinkedIn engineers with Linux Kickstart (autobuild) failures and diagnose physical‑layer network connectivity problems.
• Monitor the Jira ticket queue, ensure proper ticket handling, and mentor contract technicians on operational tasks.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to support global data‑center operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a data‑center engineering role.
• At least 1 year of Linux troubleshooting experience.
• At least 1 year of server hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Willingness to work evening or overnight shifts and participate in on‑call rotations.
