Associate Attorney - Commercial Litigation

About the role

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm founded in Chicago in 1986, is hiring an Associate Attorney for its Commercial Litigation Group in the Chicago office. The role suits an attorney with 2+ years of litigation experience who wants to handle complex, high-impact matters alongside accomplished trial lawyers. It is a hybrid position combining in-office collaboration with remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients in commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, class action defense, product liability, professional liability, life sciences, and technology and cybersecurity disputes
• Manage an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy
• Take and defend depositions, attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations and trials
• Investigate facts and develop case strategy
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel and experts
• Collaborate with experienced partners while taking increasing responsibility for cases

Required profile

• Active Illinois law license
• At least 2 years of civil litigation experience
• Prior commercial litigation experience
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery and other litigation documents
• Preferred: licensure in another jurisdiction, federal court experience, mediation or arbitration experience, and trial experience
