Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Research (Engineering)

About the role

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at LSU seeks an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Research to lead innovative work in data‑driven modeling, communications, networking, machine learning, and autonomous maritime systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sponsored research (≈40%) on distributed maritime operations, designing mathematical models, algorithms, simulations, software tools, and testing methodologies for multi‑agent systems.
• Manage engineering simulations and experiments, ensuring data integrity, quality control, and reproducibility.
• Publish findings in top peer‑reviewed venues and work under senior investigators while increasing research independence.
• Supervise graduate students and postdoctoral researchers (≈35%), providing technical mentorship, guiding research planning, and fostering an inclusive environment.
• Develop research programs and secure external funding (≈25%) by identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and building collaborations with agencies and industry partners.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish in leading journals and conferences.
• Experience supervising graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and research associates.
• Proven track record in identifying funding sources and contributing to competitive research proposals.
