Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Medical & Molecular Genetics

About the role

The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking a tenure‑track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will lead basic or translational research on human genetic disease and contribute to an inclusive academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute research projects addressing fundamental mechanisms of genetic disease.
• Mentor medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows in laboratory research.
• Secure and manage long‑term NIH funding and collaborate with internal and external partners.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or M.D. (or equivalent) with demonstrated expertise in molecular mechanisms of disease.
• Evidence of successful mentorship of trainees.
• Track record of obtaining competitive research funding is highly desirable.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and health‑equity initiatives.

Required skills

• Experience in basic or translational research, functional genomics, and therapeutic development.
• Proficiency with computational and bioinformatic approaches for genetic discovery and phenotypic analysis.
