Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical General Surgery

About the role

The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical General Surgery. The faculty member will provide comprehensive patient care, develop an academic practice, and contribute to the education of residents, fellows, and medical students.

Key responsibilities

• Manage pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative care of general surgery patients.
• Perform advanced open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.
• Develop and maintain a clinical and academic general surgery practice.
• Teach and mentor surgical residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Participate in multidisciplinary support services, including rehabilitation, nutrition, psychological support, and prevention programs.
• Supervise outpatient offices and clinics.
• Provide attending coverage for on‑call schedules.

Required profile

• Specialized knowledge of diagnosis, operative and postoperative management across major surgical domains (alimentary tract, abdomen, breast/skin/soft tissue, head and neck, vascular, endocrine, etc.).
• Experience handling surgical complications and multidisciplinary patient care.
