Assistant Superintendent – Commercial Construction

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Superintendent to support field leadership on commercial construction projects across Southeast and Central Michigan. You will work directly with the Superintendent to keep sites on schedule, ensure safety and quality, and maintain strong communication with trade partners.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate short‑term (2‑4 week) jobsite activities and communicate plans with trade contractors.
• Support development and maintenance of the project schedule, including three‑week lookahead planning.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure alignment with timelines and project requirements.
• Facilitate timely approvals and documentation with architects, engineers, and governing authorities.
• Uphold jobsite safety, quality, environmental standards, and cleanliness.
• Assist with project close‑out to meet company standards.
• Maintain detailed daily reports of site activity, progress, and key events.
• Track labor hours and submit trade hours and labor reports as required.
• Participate in and help lead onsite coordination and progress meetings.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a Superintendent or similar field role (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes.
• Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication with clients, project teams, and trade partners.
• Ability to manage risk and support cost‑control efforts.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
