Assistant Superintendent – Commercial Construction

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in delivering commercial construction projects across Southeast and Central Michigan. The role provides hands‑on coordination of daily site activities, schedule management, safety oversight and quality control, offering a pathway to a future Superintendent position.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating short‑term (2‑4 week) jobsite activities and communicate plans with trade contractors.
• Support development and maintenance of the project schedule, including three‑week look‑ahead planning.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure alignment with timelines and project requirements.
• Facilitate approvals and documentation with architects, engineers and governing authorities.
• Uphold safety, quality, environmental standards and site cleanliness at all times.
• Maintain detailed daily reports of site activity, progress and key events.
• Track labor hours and submit trade hours and labor reports as required.
• Participate in and help lead onsite coordination and progress meetings.
• Assist with project close‑out ensuring work meets company standards.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a Superintendent or similar field role.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or a related field (preferred).
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes.
• Excellent planning, scheduling and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication with clients, project teams and trade partners.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
