Assistant Store Manager - Pet Supply

About the role

Mounds, voted Best Pet Supply Store of Madison in 2025, is hiring an Assistant Store Manager. Assistant Managers work with and under the direction of the Store Manager, with on-the-job training provided. Full-time applicants must work 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day store operations with the Store Manager, including opening and closing procedures and daily, weekly and monthly managerial procedures
• Hire, supervise, train, motivate and coach employees; delegate tasks and track performance
• Order inventory, stock the sales floor and merchandise
• Operate a forklift safely and ensure compliance with safety, security and emergency procedures
• Resolve and document customer complaints, employee issues and maintenance/repair issues reported to corporate
• Cashiering, selling products, attending to damaged goods and keeping the store neat and clean

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as a supervisor or keyholder in a retail setting
• Availability Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with at least one Saturday or Sunday shift every other weekend
• Ability to manage others, lift 50 lbs frequently, stand, walk, bend, climb ladders and use pallet jacks
• Valid driver's license
