Assistant Scientist – Preclinical Research (Miami)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Surgery seeks a full‑time Assistant Scientist to conduct preclinical research on microbiome‑based therapeutic strategies for chemotherapy‑induced peripheral neuropathy and cancer treatment‑related toxicities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and support preclinical research using in‑vitro and in‑vivo models, molecular and cellular assays, and analysis of biological specimens.
• Design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data, and prepare figures, manuscripts, and scientific reports.
• Write extramural grant proposals and assist with regulatory compliance and coordination with core facilities.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and train junior personnel.

Required profile

• PhD (Doctorate) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of research experience in a related field.

Required skills

• Molecular and cellular assay techniques.
• In‑vitro and in‑vivo experimental models.
• Microscopy and pipetting.
• Data analysis and statistical interpretation.
