Assistant Scientist – Neurovascular & Neurodegeneration Research

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Office of the Dean seeks a full‑time Assistant Scientist to join the Petrucceli Lab. The role supports basic and applied research on neurovascular mechanisms in ALS, FTD, and Alzheimer’s disease, focusing on endothelial dysfunction, blood‑brain barrier biology, and RNA‑binding protein pathology.

Key responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and analyze experiments investigating neurovascular mechanisms.
• Develop and utilize animal models, including knock‑in mice and endothelial‑specific deletions.
• Perform cell‑biology and molecular‑biology techniques, and analyze human tissue using inCITE‑seq.
• Collaborate with senior staff to publish findings in refereed journals.
• Write extramural grant proposals and prepare patent documentation.
• Maintain and provide access to experimental data for the research team.
• Request and acquire equipment and supplies needed for projects.

Required profile

• MD or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant research experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility and ability to adapt to new protocols.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
