About the role
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC seeks a full‑time Assistant Scientist to lead independent research on the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of normal and malignant hematopoiesis. The role involves designing, executing, and interpreting complex laboratory experiments in a collaborative academic environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments related to transcriptional and epigenetic control of hematopoiesis.
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, western blot, immunoprecipitation, protein expression, PCR, cloning, apoptosis assays, and micro‑array studies.
- Analyze data, prepare scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and patent documentation.
- Collaborate with faculty, post‑docs, and students; contribute to grant proposals and extramural funding applications.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, request equipment and supplies, and ensure compliance with university policies.
Required profile
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant biomedical field.
- Minimum of 1 year of post‑doctoral or equivalent research experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex scientific problems.
- Excellent judgment and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
