Assistant Router/Dispatcher - School Transportation

About the role

This position assists with coordinating, scheduling and maintaining pupil transportation routes across the district for regular and special needs programs, supporting safe, efficient, timely and economical transportation. It provides administrative and operational support to the Route Coordinator and Director of Transportation, keeps route information accurate, communicates service changes and ensures compliance with district policies, procedures and state requirements. The role works daily with the Assistant Director of Transportation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be 18 years of age
• Valid Texas driver's license
• Experience in dispatch, transportation operations, routing, customer service or administrative support preferred; school transportation experience strongly preferred

Required skills

• Reading maps, interpreting route information and learning district roads, attendance boundaries, campus schedules and transportation procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, organization, data entry and problem-solving
• Managing multiple calls, radio traffic and changing priorities calmly and accurately
• Email, spreadsheets and electronic records; learning Tyler Traversa, SMART tag and district dispatch and tracking systems
• Maintaining accurate records and handling confidential student and employee information
• Cooperating with transportation staff, campus personnel, parents and students, and following safety protocols and emergency procedures
