Assistant Research Scientist – Transportation & Energy

About the role

The Texas A&M Transportation Institute’s Energy and Right of Way Program seeks an interdisciplinary researcher to lead and support applied transportation research at the intersection of energy, utilities, and infrastructure. The role involves managing funded projects, developing proposals, and collaborating with multi‑disciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and report on research and experimental design phases, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
• Lead research projects independently and contribute to collaborative projects led by other principal investigators.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and deliverables for sponsors and conferences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in engineering with at least three years of relevant experience in infrastructure project delivery or research.
• Demonstrated record of 2‑5 peer‑reviewed publications and experience securing research funding.
• Strong verbal, technical writing, and interpersonal communication skills.

Required skills

• Independent project management from inception to completion.
• Data collection, statistical analysis, and experimental design.
• Technical writing for reports, literature reviews, and grant proposals.
