Assistant Property Manager

About the role

The Burlington Housing Authority is seeking a motivated Assistant Property Manager to join its Property Management team. This entry‑level position offers the chance to learn the full spectrum of affordable‑housing operations while making a daily impact on residents’ lives.

Key responsibilities

• Support Property Managers in the day‑to‑day operations of the agency’s housing portfolio.
• Assist with leasing activities, including showing units, processing applications, and preparing lease agreements.
• Coordinate move‑ins and move‑outs, conduct vacant‑unit inspections, and ensure units are ready for new residents.
• Maintain accurate tenant files, handle rent collection, and process lease violations.
• Respond to resident inquiries and complaints, delivering timely resolutions.
• Prepare and distribute resident notices, certifications, and other required documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated passion for serving low‑income and vulnerable residents.
• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and up‑to‑date vehicle insurance and registration.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of HUD regulations and LIHTC programs (preferred).
• Familiarity with property‑management processes and customer‑service best practices.
