Assistant Project Manager

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager supports the internal project team throughout the full project lifecycle, with a focus on managing change orders and ensuring accurate cost estimation. This fast‑paced role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure in a construction environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare daily reports and review submittals
• Track and expedite RFIs and submittals
• Maintain change order and submittal logs
• Order site equipment and materials
• Communicate with the project team and assist the superintendent in coordinating trades
• Collect and submit subcontractor close‑out documents
• Handle all job‑site paperwork, correspondence, pickups and deliveries
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent on multiple projects as needed
• Prepare accurate change orders from work orders and drawings, verifying unit pricing, labor rates, fees, overhead and insurance
• Perform detailed take‑offs for all trades, estimating labor, material, equipment and delivery costs
• Level and negotiate subcontractor pricing, issue purchase orders
• Work closely with project managers to understand approved budgets and forecast changes
• Track approved and pending change orders against the budget
• Provide information for rejected, modified, or approved change orders and invoices
• Notify the project manager of potential financial issues
• Execute financial close‑out for assigned projects

Required profile

• Previous experience in construction management
• Familiarity with construction sites
• Deadline‑driven and detail‑oriented
• Flexible schedule
• OSHA 10 certification preferred
