Assistant Project Manager – Construction Management

About the role
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in delivering affordable housing projects across the New York City metropolitan area. Working closely with Camber’s Asset Management, Development and Acquisition teams, you will help guide projects from due‑diligence through construction, close‑out and post‑construction phases.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the design process to ensure compliance with underwriting, financing, sustainability and design standards.
- Perform site inspections, capture photographs, assess existing conditions and produce written documentation.
- Prepare and track bid packages and manage leveling sheets for consultants and subcontractors.
- Monitor project schedules, submittals/RFI logs, open items and meeting minutes.
- Set up initial contracts, manage project information and oversee the permit process.
- Verify subcontractor certificates of insurance before mobilization.
- Support project accounting: requisitions, draw requests, invoice review and payment schedules.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and clear violations.
- Develop and maintain site logistics plans in coordination with teams and subcontractors.
- Respond to work delays, emergencies and other issues as they arise.
- Assist the Project Manager with financial reporting, budgeting, cost‑to‑complete, change orders and scope changes.
- Prepare monthly project status reports for executive approval.
- Maintain clear communication with clients and proactively share progress and budget updates.
- Attend and lead project meetings and help resolve subcontractor issues.
Required profile
- Strong communication, analytical, project management and accounting abilities.
- Detail‑oriented with the capacity to review work for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across design, construction and post‑construction phases.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
