Assistant Professor of Finance & Financial Planning

About the role

The Department of Finance at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Finance/Financial Planning to begin in Fall 2027. The role focuses on delivering undergraduate and graduate instruction that prepares students for the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) exam and supports the department’s finance curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial planning topics such as retirement, estate, tax, insurance, investment planning, and related capstone courses.
• Develop and deliver finance courses in other areas as needed, including corporate finance, investments, and personal finance.
• Maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the scholarly mission of the department and college.
• Advise and mentor students, participate in curriculum development, and provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Financial Planning or Finance from an AACSB‑accredited institution (ABD candidates considered if degree is conferred at appointment).
• Earned CFP designation or completion of all educational requirements to sit for the CFP® exam, with the exam to be passed within two years of employment.
• Ability to teach effectively across multiple instructional modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, hyflex).
