Assistant Professor of Counseling (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

West Texas A&M University’s Department of Education seeks an Assistant Professor of Counseling to join its graduate online counseling program. This 11‑month tenure‑track position supports the Behavioral Health Workforce Initiative, expanding rural behavioral health services across the Texas Panhandle.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate clinical mental‑health services in partnership with the BHWI initiative.
• Develop and sustain community partnerships with schools, agencies, and health providers.
• Supervise and teach graduate practicum and internship courses, including summer terms.
• Recruit, admit, and advise master’s‑level counseling students.
• Maintain an active research and publication agenda.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
• Collaborate with university staff on BHWI data collection and program evaluation.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in Counselor Education (or related field).
• Texas licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or eligibility for licensure.
• Demonstrated scholarly activity in counseling.
• Experience supervising counselors‑in‑training during practicum and internship.
• Evidence of developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical procedures for trainees.
