Assistant Professor of Counseling (Tenure-Track)

About the role

West Texas A&M University’s Department of Education seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Counseling to join its student‑centered learning community in Canyon, Texas. The successful candidate will teach graduate‑level counseling courses, primarily through online delivery, and contribute to the department’s research and service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Teach counseling and related graduate courses via web‑based platforms, with occasional face‑to‑face sessions.
• Maintain a minimum of 10 hours of in‑person office hours each week for student advising.
• Recruit, admit, and mentor master’s‑level counseling students.
• Develop and sustain an active research and publication agenda.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and professional counseling organizations.
• Assist with program assessment, accreditation activities, and curriculum planning.

Required profile

• Earned doctoral degree in counselor education from a CACREP‑accredited program (ABD candidates considered if degree completed by start date).
• Texas LPC, LPC‑Associate, or Certified School Counselor license, or eligibility for one.
• Evidence of scholarly activity in counseling.
• Minimum two years of teaching experience in counselor education at the undergraduate or graduate level.
