Assistant Professor of Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence

About the role

Texas A&M International University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence to start Fall 2027. The position involves establishing an independent, externally funded AI research program and contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an AI research agenda in areas such as machine learning, NLP, computer vision, and deep learning.
• Teach AI‑related courses for the BS in Computer Science and support the AI‑themed MS in Systems Engineering.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate student research projects and senior design teams.
• Participate in curriculum development, accreditation activities, and School service.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field (or near completion).
• Demonstrated expertise in AI through research, scholarship, or professional experience.
• Ability to secure external research funding and collaborate across disciplines.
• Experience teaching AI or related Computer Science courses.
