Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders

About the role

Texas A&M International University seeks an Assistant Professor in Communication Sciences and Disorders to join its College of Nursing and Health Sciences beginning Fall 2027. This is a nine‑month, tenure‑track faculty position located on the Laredo campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned undergraduate and graduate courses in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program.
• Evaluate student progress, manage course administration, and supervise field‑based experiences or internships.
• Maintain scholarly productivity through peer‑reviewed publications and conference participation.
• Contribute to the development of a new Master’s program and provide service to the department, college, and university.

Required profile

• Doctorate (or ABD with doctorate earned before appointment) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
• Eligibility for Texas SLP licensure and/or ASHA CCC‑SLP certification.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence, peer‑reviewed scholarship, external funding, and support of first‑generation students.

Required skills

• Ability to teach communication sciences coursework and supervise clinical practicum experiences.
• Research skills leading to publications in refereed journals.
