Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery – Surgical Oncology (Breast)

About the role

The Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami seeks a fellowship‑trained surgeon with expertise in breast and cutaneous oncology to join its multidisciplinary team. This faculty position combines clinical care, research, and education within a NCI‑designated cancer center.

Key responsibilities

• Provide surgical oncology services, including breast reconstruction, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Oversee outcomes, quality metrics, and patient experience for the program.
• Coordinate physician scheduling and maintain related administrative records.
• Conduct daily unit rounds, manage inpatient follow‑up, and ensure seamless coordination with primary physicians.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, and other physicians to optimize resource use and length of stay.
• Participate in clinical effectiveness programs, root‑cause analyses, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Teach and mentor residents and fellows rotating through the surgical oncology program.

Required profile

• Board‑certified surgeon with fellowship training in breast and/or cutaneous oncology.
• Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary cancer care and clinical trial participation.
• Strong commitment to education, quality improvement, and patient‑centered care.
