Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery – Breast Oncology

About the role

The Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine seeks a fellowship‑trained surgeon to join its breast and cutaneous oncology team. This faculty position focuses on high‑quality clinical care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and participation in cutting‑edge clinical trials.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee outcomes, quality, and patient experience for the breast oncology program.
• Coordinate physician schedules to ensure coverage for clinical services.
• Maintain administrative records related to scheduling and hospital access.
• Conduct daily inpatient rounds, provide follow‑up care, and manage outpatient clinic visits.
• Collaborate with primary physicians, case managers, and hospital staff to optimize resource use and patient throughput.
• Implement clinical effectiveness programs, pathways, and quality initiatives.
• Participate in root‑cause analyses, core‑measure meetings, and patient/physician satisfaction initiatives.
• Teach and mentor residents and fellows rotating through the program.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible surgeon with fellowship training in breast and/or cutaneous oncology.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical care, research, and education within a multidisciplinary cancer center.
• Strong commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and collaborative teamwork.
