Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics – Child Protection Team

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics to join its Child Protection Team. The role focuses on forensic medical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of child maltreatment cases across Miami and Monroe County.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct forensic medical examinations and produce detailed reports for alleged maltreated children.
• Perform comprehensive physical and sexual abuse examinations, including photographic documentation.
• Tri­age cases with the CPT case coordinator and assess referrals from DCF, law enforcement, or medical providers.
• Provide 24‑hour on‑call coverage for emergent examinations in the office or hospitals.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, arrange outpatient consults, and assist psychologists with behavioral assessments.
• Review hotline reports to determine mandatory CPT referrals and stay current on relevant statutes and regulations.
• Deliver staff development, in‑service training, community outreach, and expert testimony as required.

Required profile

• MD or DO degree.
• Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Pediatrics.
• Experience in pediatric clinical care, preferably with forensic or child protection exposure.
• Willingness to participate in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation, including weekends and holidays.

Required skills
