Assistant or Associate Professor of Education (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The School of Education at Abilene Christian University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Education. This is a full-time, 9-month appointment starting in August 2027. The university is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ, and all qualified applicants must be professing Christians and active, faithful members of a congregation of the Churches of Christ, willing to support the university's Christian mission.

The successful candidate will join a community of educators and scholars, work as part of the literacy team on the shared alignment and revision of the literacy sequence, and contribute to the school's mission of preparing exemplary educators for diverse and multicultural communities.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses in early literacy education and potentially other areas of expertise
• Work with practicum students and clinical teachers
• Build relationships with public schools
• Contribute to the School of Education's mission and its literacy team's ongoing work

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in literacy education or a related field, conferred no later than August 2027, or significant progress toward the terminal degree
• At least three years of K-12 teaching experience
• Record of, or evidence of potential for, scholarly productivity
• Commitment to equity-oriented, culturally responsive and/or antiracist teaching frameworks
• Experience in collaborative professional practice
• Evidence of professional and institutional service in K-12 and/or higher education
