Assistant Nurse Manager, Emergency Department (Night Shift)

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for its Emergency Department in Orlando, Florida. The position covers the night shift (7:00 pm to 7:00 am, with weekend rotation) and focuses on leading nursing staff, improving quality of care and supporting staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor nursing staff performance, give feedback, run appraisals and implement improvement plans to meet clinical and professional standards.
• Identify training needs, organize education programs and mentor staff to support their growth.
• Resolve staff conflicts quickly and fairly to keep a positive, cohesive team.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing data and applying strategies that improve patient care and efficiency.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team to coordinate care.
• Mentor and precept new staff with hands-on training and feedback.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN); Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, Associate's degree required.
• 1+ years as a charge nurse or relevant leadership experience preferred.
• 1+ years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Eligible clinicians may earn up to 20% salary increases through a voluntary Clinical Ladder Program.

• Leadership of a unit and ability to lead performance improvement initiatives.
• Critical thinking about unit operations and patient care.
• Management of the unit's business, including financial practices and productivity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and basic computer skills, including an electronic health record.
