About the role

The Assistant Manager – Room Operations supports the daily functioning of the Rooms division at a hotel in New Orleans. This entry‑level management position oversees housekeeping, recreation, laundry, bell staff, front desk, and concierge services, ensuring smooth guest arrivals, departures, and overall property cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close front‑desk and housekeeping shifts, completing shift checklists.
• Review and act on room‑operations reports, night‑audit data, and loss‑prevention policies.
• Coordinate supplies, uniforms, and equipment maintenance for all rooms‑division staff.
• Schedule employees according to business demand and track attendance.
• Supervise same‑day selling procedures to maximize room revenue and occupancy.
• Verify room rates, manage departmental expenses, and assist with budget tracking.
• Support guest‑experience initiatives, including accident investigations and repeat‑guest recognition programs.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED with 3 years of guest‑services, front‑desk, or housekeeping experience, or an associate degree in Hospitality/Hotel Management with 1 year of relevant experience.
• Entry‑level management aptitude with strong organizational skills.
