Assistant Manager - Automotive Retail Service and Repair Store

About the role

Monro, a family of automotive service and tire dealer brands, is hiring an Assistant Manager for its retail stores. The position is full-time and hourly, depending on business needs. The Assistant Manager acts as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager and helps run the store so that service standards and performance goals are met.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule guest appointments to optimise technician use and complete services and repairs on time.
• Promote tire and service products and sales promotions to help reach sales goals.
• Handle guest needs in sales, service, complaints and adjustments, and build guest relationships.
• Help technicians explain repair and service needs to guests.
• Keep the store clean and in guest-ready condition.
• Assist with inventory management, including pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking.
• Give direction to technicians and organise the store workflow so technician skills are used efficiently.
• Follow company policies, government standards and OSHA safety requirements.
• Perform Store Manager functions and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of retail experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report; ability to operate customers' vehicles for test drives.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for long periods, and work in a noisy, dusty automotive shop environment.

Required skills

• Basic automotive maintenance, repair and tire service knowledge.
• Inventory management, merchandising and customer service.
• Communication skills with teammates and guests, and ability to convey technical issues.
• Preferred: ASE certification and State Inspection License (where applicable).
