Assistant General Manager

About the role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in driving overall store performance for Bloomingdale’s. This senior leadership position blends strategic oversight with hands‑on execution, guiding high‑impact projects such as store renovations, capital investments, and omnichannel initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver on key performance metrics including sales, client development, loyalty, and omnichannel execution.
• Partner with the General Manager to lead large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives such as floor redesigns and capital projects.
• Manage end‑to‑end execution of complex projects, coordinating internal teams (Merchandising, Visual, Operations, Marketing, Finance) and external vendors/contractors.
• Navigate operational complexity across multiple brands, balancing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
• Use data, customer insights, and on‑the‑ground intelligence to develop localized strategies that improve performance and customer experience.
• Collaborate with Operations leadership to oversee store‑controlled profit and loss.

Required profile

• Proven commercial acumen and operational leadership in a high‑volume, multi‑brand retail environment.
• Experience managing complex projects with vendors, contractors, and cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, lead through ambiguity, and deliver results in a fast‑paced setting.
• Strong analytical mindset with a data‑driven approach to decision making.
