Assistant Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Assistant Director of Human Resources supports the Executive Director of Human Resources in managing daily HR operations at Motlow State Community College’s Moore County campus. This position ensures HR policies, recruitment, employee relations, benefits, and training are delivered effectively and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for assigned HR staff and programs.
• Assist with budget management and policy development for the HR unit.
• Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
• Offer guidance to employees and supervisors on workplace issues, conflict resolution, and corrective actions.
• Administer employee benefits programs and serve as the primary contact for benefits inquiries and open enrollment.
• Facilitate onboarding for new hires and manage exit processes for departing employees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of professional HR experience, including two years in a generalist, coordinator, or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP or HRIS implementation.
• Ability to conduct investigations and deliver workplace training.
• Active HR certification (e.g., SPHR, PHR, SHRM‑SCP, SHRM‑CP) is preferred.
