Assistant Coach (Softball)

About the role

The Assistant Coach (Softball) supports the head coach in all aspects of team administration, practice planning, athlete development, and recruitment for Texas A&M International University.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with daily administrative tasks, practice sessions, conditioning workouts, and travel coordination.
• Recruit and scout prospective student‑athletes, maintain compliance with NCAA regulations, and manage recruiting databases.
• Monitor student‑athlete academic progress, manage study hall hours, and coordinate with academic advisers.
• Maintain records, schedules, and public‑relations activities, and support sport camps and fundraising events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or higher level.
• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, and communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Willingness to travel, work evenings and weekends, and maintain on‑campus presence.

Required skills

• General knowledge of NCAA rules.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
• Experience using compliance and roster management tools (e.g., CAI, ARMS).
