Assistant Attorney General - Continuous Recruiting

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking qualified attorneys to join its continuous recruiting pool for the Assistant Attorney General position. This role provides legal representation and advice to state agencies, departments, authorities, and the Governor across a variety of legal divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Litigate cases in administrative hearings, state and federal courts, including trials, motions, and appeals.
• Research legal issues, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and prepare related documentation.
• Provide legal advice and representation to state clients, drafting memoranda of advice.
• Draft formal legal opinions in response to agency inquiries.
• Stay current on legal developments and respond to citizen and legislative inquiries.

Required profile

• Admission to the bar and relevant legal experience.
• Ability to work across multiple legal divisions such as regulated industries, commercial transactions, criminal justice, general litigation, government services, prosecutions, Medicaid fraud, consumer protection, and the Solicitor General’s Unit.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
