About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Attorney General to join the Business & Finance Section of the Commercial Transactions and Litigation Division. The attorney will primarily handle bankruptcy matters for state agencies and may also engage in broader business litigation.
Key responsibilities
- Litigate Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcy cases in state and federal courts.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
- Conduct legal research and stay current on relevant statutes and case law.
- Participate in settlement negotiations and work with expert witnesses.
- Provide legal advice to state agencies, draft memoranda, and issue formal opinions.
- Represent the state in bond proceedings, procurement disputes, and other business-related actions.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars and present findings as required.
- Travel occasionally, primarily within Georgia.
Required profile
- Bar admission and good standing (implied by role).
- Experience in bankruptcy and business litigation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a legal team.
