Assembly Operator - 1st Shift

About the role

ABB is hiring an assembler for its Pinetops, North Carolina manufacturing plant, reporting to the Production Supervisor. The role supports the unit in reaching its production targets by following the established systems and processes, using machinery and equipment on the shop floor and reading technical diagrams and instructions for assembling products, systems and panels. The work is onsite at the Pinetops facility.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all types of assembly work to produce semi-finished or final products, systems and panels, including packing where it is integrated with the production lines.
• Perform work manually or with light hand tools.
• Carry out regular quality testing as part of a defined production process.
• Follow standard operating procedures and keep the work area clean.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs.
• Physical stamina for a manufacturing plant environment, including occasional lifting, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, twisting or standing for long periods, and frequent computer use for data entry, monitoring and communication.

Required skills

• Use of tools such as tape measures, calipers, grinders or other hand tools as needed.
• Ability to safely use a ladder when required.
• Willingness to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves and steel-toed shoes.
