Armed Part-Time Security Officer - Access Control

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time Armed Patrol Officer in Alexandria, VA, to work at a government location. The officer monitors and patrols assigned areas, maintains a visible presence to deter security incidents, supports access control and provides professional customer service. The schedule is day time, Saturday 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM Sunday.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors and authorized contractors while carrying out site procedures, access-control requirements and emergency response activities.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms and critical situations, following reporting and escalation procedures.
• Carry out regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas and perimeters to spot and report unusual activity, hazards or unauthorized access.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials of people and vehicles entering restricted areas.
• Keep accurate activity logs, incident reports and shift documentation and share relevant information with leadership and site representatives.

Required profile

• Armed guard card or license.
• At least 3 years of security, law enforcement, military police or military experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years old for armed roles.
• Background investigation and drug screen as conditions of employment; licensing may be required before employment.

Required skills

• Access control or badge experience (preferred)
• Comfort using a computer or tablet (preferred)
• Valid driver's license required only for driving positions
