Architectural Designer - Mid-Level

About the role

Amentum Nuclear Projects, a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy, is looking for a mid-level Architectural Designer to work with groups of architects and designers on the technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules. The work is based in Oak Ridge, TN or Idaho Falls, ID, with occasional business travel. The employer is involved in nuclear cleanup, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, and engineering and construction.

Key responsibilities

• Work with groups of architects and designers to complete the technical parts of projects within budget and schedule
• Produce specifications and review the work of other staff for technical accuracy, providing guidance
• Follow established Amentum quality procedures and ensure work under their control meets them
• Lead groups of architects and designers on technical project portions (preferred)

Required profile

• Experience designing commercial or industrial facilities, from concept through detailed design completion
• Knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application and manufacturer-supplier selection
• Experience with the International Building Code (IBC)
• U.S. citizenship required; valid driver's license required
• Ability to work in the office and attend as needed; occasional travel and work near construction equipment
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, LEED AP, DOE Q clearance, NCARB registration, DOE experience, ISO 9000/NQA-1 quality system experience, and experience facilitating charrettes

Required skills

• Discipline-specific software such as Revit, AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Microsoft 365
