Architectural Designer

About the role

SOM is seeking an Architectural Designer to join its interdisciplinary teams and contribute to sustainable, impactful projects. The role involves leading portions of design work, collaborating with consultants and clients, and advancing the firm’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead distinct portions of architectural projects with periodic supervision from project leadership.
• Produce and coordinate presentation and contract deliverables such as diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models, and animations.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, consultants, and clients through written, oral, and visual means.
• Develop strong conceptual designs and integrate interdisciplinary criteria to move projects forward.
• Evaluate ideas critically, contribute to studio discussions, and support a collaborative team culture.
• Apply an intermediate understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, details, and construction techniques to enrich design concepts.
• Manage personal workload and assist less‑experienced staff to meet project deadlines.
