Architect V – Public Projects

About the role

The Department of Design and Construction in downtown Honolulu seeks an Architect V to lead complex public‑sector projects, from initial planning through construction and post‑completion support.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve challenging architectural issues, develop scope alternatives, prepare cost estimates, and coordinate project funding.
• Prepare, negotiate, and administer consultant service contracts, monitor progress, and manage close‑out activities.
• Develop planning documents and designs for complex projects, collaborate with construction teams, review submittals, and provide post‑construction support.
• Secure City, State, and Federal permits, coordinate land and easement acquisition, and lead public outreach.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or eligible non‑citizen.
• Degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university in architecture or a related field.
