Architect Trainee – Capital Projects (Summer 2026)

About the role

The Architect Trainee program is a three‑year, entry‑level opportunity with MTA Construction & Development, focused on capital projects that improve the region’s subway, bus, rail, bridge and tunnel infrastructure. Selected graduates will start on September 10, 2026 and receive on‑the‑job training that blends design, construction oversight, and project support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist managers and registered architects in scope development, design, and preparation of contract proposals.
• Support capital construction oversight, site inspections, and documentation.
• Contribute to related project functions such as project controls and coordination with engineering teams.
• Participate in occasional travel to other MTA locations or external sites as required.

Required profile

• Recent architectural degree (graduated within the past 18 months or graduating by June 30 2026).
• Interest in large‑scale infrastructure and capital projects.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
• Eligibility for telework after 30 days of hire (one day per week).
