Applications Engineer (HVAC)

About the role

Critical Systems LLC is hiring a full-time Applications Engineer (HVAC) in Rockville. The engineer provides technical support to sales team members, consulting engineers, contractors and technical buyers during the design and fulfillment stages of equipment projects, ensuring accurate delivery within the agreed timeframe.

Key responsibilities

• Support sales engineers, consultants, contractors and buyers on system and product selection, design and pricing.
• Take off, optimize and validate equipment by selecting size, configuration, voltage and options after reviewing plans and specifications.
• Prepare proposals and pricing breakdowns, evaluating equipment savings.
• Develop preliminary and final submittals for timely production release and delivery.
• Perform periodic job site visits and hold meetings such as cost reviews, submittal and pre-release meetings.
• Coordinate service and technical support during start-up and throughout the warranty period.
• Maintain an up-to-date library and database of technical information and meet proposal and submittal deadlines.
• Handle many projects at once and work outside normal hours when required.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (Green Card).
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC), Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology or another related technical field.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in the HVAC industry in applications or inside sales.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, excellent verbal and written communication, ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-enabled applications.
• Intermediate-level Excel.
