Application Engineer III (E3)

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an Application Engineer III (E3) to support customers in semiconductor and advanced display manufacturing. You will work on complex technical challenges, develop optimized system recipes, and drive innovative solutions at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Identify complex problems at customer sites and lead solutions through the full work cycle.
• Lead recipe creation to optimize system performance and train PSE/AEs in recipe development.
• Qualify new technologies and features, execute beta‑sites, evaluations, and demos.
• Participate in customer demo activities and technical review meetings.
• Create new methodologies to improve system performance for specific applications.
• Analyze and transfer new application capabilities from product division to customer support.

• Demonstrates expanded conceptual knowledge in the discipline and broadens capabilities.
• Understands key business drivers and applies this insight to daily work.
• Provides informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory responsibilities.
• Solves straightforward problems using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
• Communicates complex information clearly in straightforward situations.
