Android Engineer II

About the role

Zello is looking for an Android Engineer II to join its Android team, which powers the apps that generate 80% of the company’s revenue. You will work in a small, four‑person team where your contributions are visible from day one and directly impact millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Own and ship end‑to‑end features across a focused area of the Android client.
• Write production‑grade Kotlin code daily and navigate legacy Java code when needed.
• Ensure tests, code reviews, and stability are part of the definition of “done”.
• Contribute to Android 2.0 re‑architecture, including Hilt‑based DI, modular Gradle, and MVVM/MVI patterns.
• Use Zello’s AI‑assisted development workflows and help improve the team’s agent library.
• Pair with teammates, review code, and align on shared standards.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of production Android experience using Kotlin.
• Comfortable working with Java in legacy codebases.
• Hands‑on experience with modern Android architecture (DI, modular Gradle, MVVM or MVI).
• Strong focus on test coverage, low crash impact, and clean code reviews.
• Regular user of AI‑assisted development tools and a willingness to share improvements.
• Self‑starter who takes ownership of a scoped area without needing hand‑holding.
